Thoughts & ideas for sustainable living

Here you’ll find ideas for living more sustainably through our everyday habits, activities, and the items we choose to buy.

Why the name "01 Impact?"

Let’s be honest with ourselves. Getting to “zero” impact is pretty much impossible. Just by being here on Earth, we’re constantly interacting with the planet’s natural cycles and the other critters we share it with.

The good news is that there are many opportunities for us to leave less behind and create positive change simply by rethinking what we do and buy.

So, while getting to “zero” impact is a tough one, being more mindful of our everyday habits and purchases will seriously reduce our overall environmental footprint.

Philosophy on sustainability

Individual people play an important role in building a more sustainable and just future.

That being said, there are inherent issues within our current systems that make eco-friendly choices more or less accessible to different people — and it should not be that way. Simply put, not everyone has the resources to put sustainability at the forefront of their decisions.

Additionally, the burden of sustainability cannot fall exclusively on the shoulders of consumers. Companies also need to be held accountable for their environmental footprint. Especially when over 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions can be traced back to just 100 companies

To build a truly sustainable  and socially-responsible future, companies, policy-makers, and individuals alike will need to work together to reduce our collective environmental impact.

If you’re here, maybe you feel the same way — so, cheers to being a bit greener everyday!

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” — Margaret Mead
